Family Tree
Materials:
Poster paper
Green and brown tempera paints
Markers
Construction paper
Straw
Add some water to the brown paint to make it thinner. It needs to be thin enough to blow around using a straw.
Place a few drops of brown paint on the bottom of a piece of poster paper.
Use a straw to blow the brown paint into the shape of a tree trunk.
Leave to dry.
Have a helper paint your hands with green paint and place your handprints around the top of the page to create the leaves of the tree.
Leave to dry.
Select three different colors of construction paper. Choose one color for children in your family, one for your parents, and one for grandparents.
Cut these into 5 X 3 in strips.
Fold the strips in half to create a square.
Open up the square flap of the color for kids and draw a picture of yourself inside.
Now write your name on the front flap.
Repeat this with all children in your family, using the same color you used for yourself.
Now draw each of your parents (stepparents, guardians, etc.) onto your second color construction paper.
Write their names on the front flap.
Repeat this process for grandparents on the third color of paper.
Place each square onto the family tree in the correct place. (you may need adult help for this part.)
Once everything is in place, glue the squares down.
