This week take time to get into the habit of being kind.

Below is a list of kindnesses you can do.

Random Acts of Kindness

  1. Compliment someone – It takes just seconds, but a compliment makes a lasting impact on someone else’s day!

  2. Slip a sweet note into your brother or sister’s lunchbox it is an easy way to brighten someone’s day! Write poems, silly sayings, encouraging verses, and even a simple “I Love You.”

  3. Write a thank-you note — If someone else did a random act of kindness for you, let them know it was appreciated! Thank you notes are a good habit to get into for birthday gifts, holidays, or anytime where someone has given you a present or done something nice.

  4. Write a letter to a friend or relative — There is something much more personal about a written letter!

  5. Stick up for a friend — If you see something, say something! Be an upstander, both in-person and online.

  6. Mow your neighbor’s lawn — Alternative options are raking leaves or weeding a flower garden.

  7. Pick up litter at the local park — Be sure to stay safe while handling litter! Always wear gloves and use a trash picker tool.

  8. Ask a classmate how they’re doing — And really, really listen to them! You never know if someone needs a friend or a listening ear unless you ask.

  9. Tattletale — In a good way! When you see someone else doing something awesome or being kind to others, recognize them!

  10. Donate toys — If there are toys that you never used or don’t play with anymore (and are still in good condition), there is another kid out there who may love them too!

  11. Do something nice for yourself

  12. Put your phone away at dinner or when in the company of others — When you’re spending time with friends or family, make sure to be kind and give them your full attention!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

  • picture frame (or a dollar store canvas and blue paint)

  • white cardstock cloud

  • cardstock strips in rainbow colors

  • marker

  • glue stick

  • glitter

  • scissors

DIRECTIONS

  1. If you’re working with a picture frame, use a blue piece of card stock for the background. If you’re working on a canvas, start by painting your canvas light blue.

  2. Use diluted liquid watercolor paint for this step, but you could also use acrylic paint or poster paint.

  3. Write your friend’s, brother, sister, or anyone you choose a name, in marker, on the cloud.

  4. Now, think of some of the unique qualities that the person you chose has that you really admire. You will need 7 for each of the colors of the rainbow.

  5. Write each of the qualities one strip of colored paper for each color of the rainbow.

  6. Go around the edges of the clouds with a glue stick, and then dip the clouds into the glitter.

  7. Shake gently to remove any excess glitter.

  8. Take your strips and lay them on the blue background and be sure the colored strips are in rainbow order and ensuring that all of the pieces would fit and display nicely on their canvases and in their picture frames.

  9. Glue the colored strips in place.

  10. Place the cloud over the tops of the strips and then glue.
